SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
Under general supervision, monitors student activities and behavior during lunch periods on a TEMPORARY BASIS while an employee is on leave.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Under general supervision, monitors student activities and behavior during lunch periods on a TEMPORARY BASIS while an employee is on leave.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of applicable school regulations, practices and procedures, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
- Knowledge of games appropriate for play during recess.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff and others.
- Ability to effectively monitor elementary and middle school students and to supervise playground activities during lunch recess.
- Ability to communicate with students during lunch periods. Considerable patience and demonstrated skills in working with children.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as pushing tables)
- Ability to patrol for extended periods of time and during all types of weather.
- Ability to supervise playground/recreational activities, including the enforcement of safety rules, appropriate behavior standards and playground/cafeteria rules and procedures.
- Ability to bend down
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors and supervises students on the playground and during lunch periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in lunch area.
- Supervises playground activities during lunch recess.
- Maintains order and decorum in the cafeteria, reinforces student manners and cleanup procedures.
- Enforces safety rules, appropriate behavior standards, and school playground/cafeteria policies.
- Provides a safe environment for students during playground and lunch periods.
JOB DETAILS:
- Days: 4 days a week (typically Monday-Thursday).
- Hours: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
